This issue of The Little Giant
focuses on the first half of the 20th Century. The West Pittsburg
Passenger and Freight Stations are featured, along with many of the
small support buildings that surrounded the two stations. An in depth
description of the construction of the fantastic bridge that crosses
the Ohio River between Monaca and Beaver, PA in 1910 is also featured.
Next is a look at some of the fascinating buildings that the P&LE
constructed in the early part of the 1900's. Also detailed is the
history of a large class of USRA Triple Hoppers that were built for
the P&LE and PMcK&Y Railroads. Finally, a diagram of the Aliquippa
Yard in 1940 rounds out the issue. As an added bonus, a fold out track
diagram of the West Pittsburg area, circa 1916 is included. |
