The Collector's Corner:
"Hayburner Basics"

By: V. F. Skibo

In the crossover era when flamed and light bulbed lanterns coexisted on the high iron, the former was often referred to by railroader's as "Hayburners", especially on the P&LE. Although a wonderful variety of lanterns have been marketed for railroad use over the years, only certain models were ever produced for the P&LE. This issue's installment of The Collector's Corner takes a look at those lanterns in a way that can benefit both the novice and advanced collector.
