The river grade
of the Little Giant made it the logical choice in the routing of coal
movements from the fields of West Virginia to Detroit Edison's new power
plant in Monroe, Michigan in the 1970's and 80's. DE's trains brought
a technological innovation to everyday railroading and gave the P&LE
an infusion of much needed capital during a time of economic downturn
throughout it's operating region. |
